Even mild dehydration can be detrimental to mood and mental cognition, according to University of Connecticut’s Human Performance Laboratory researchers. Drink about a half gallon of water a day. 2. Care for plants. Being around plants can increase memory retention up to 20%, according to a University of Michigan study. 3. Get enough sleep. Adequate sleep enhances learning and problem-solving skills, and helps you pay attention and make decisions. The average adult needs 7-8 hours per day.
