A new government study found the average cost to raise a child from birth through age 17 is $221,000! This does not include college. Here’s the breakdown:
 Housing – 32 percent
 Child care/education – 16 percent
 Food – 16 percent
 Transportation – 14 percent
 Health care – 8 percent
 Miscellaneous – 8 percent
 Clothing – 6 percent
